We had the opportunity to stay at the Maple UnCommon while in town visiting family. I highly recommend visiting if you have the opportunity. The location is amazing — it’s such a cool collection of art and a really neat space. The room was super comfortable, and Laura, the owner, is wonderful—kind, welcoming, and committed to making sure her guests have a great stay. We’ll definitely be visiting again!

Laura is amazing! She was super sweet and helpful. She let me carry on with my yammering and it was so nice to have someone listen. The artwork is beautiful! The room was so nice. This was a pleasant surprise to find in Columbus KS. I highly recommend Laura and her establishment. I will most definitely stay there again should I return to the area. Actually, I'd go out of my way to stay there again! Thank you Laura!!!

An Uncommon Pleasure. What a nice place to stay if you plan to visit Columbus Kansas for a few days. Half art gallery, half studio apartments with a shared kitchen, a half-block from the Cherokee County Courthouse and 3 blocks from the Columbus Museum. Restaurants are within easy walking distance. Our unit is well furnished, comfortable, quiet, and wonderfully air conditioned (it's July and 97F/50% humidity as I write this). Owner Laura Lowry Greene is a gracious hostess. Will definitely stay here again.

Recently my husband, little dog, and I visited Columbus, KS for the first time. Laura Lowry-Greene, the proprietor of Maple Uncommon, a guest house and art gallery, was outstanding! She a was a fantastic host who went the extra mile in every way, making us instantly feel like part of a family. She even made our coffee and solved all our problems, including recommending a nearby chiropractor/acupuncturist (Dr. Curtis Wheatly) to help with my back pain. Our quarters were spacious, private, pet-friendly, and very comfortable. Since it is also an art gallery, there is lovely original art throughout the old building and in the guest rooms. You would love staying there!

This remodeled hotel hidden in Columbus, Kansas, is an old JC Penney store from decades ago. Each spacious room is uniquely shaped and decorated with local art. Laura, the owner, made us feel right at home when we stayed as if we were family. This is by far the best overnight experience my wife and I have ever had and no hotel chain in America would even come close to this level of hospitality. Definitely will come back again on our next visit to this part of Kansas.

The Maple Uncommon was such a hidden gem! We stayed there for a night this past weekend, and truly fell in love with the place, and Laura, the owner. We were in town for a family bbq (off property), so we didn’t get to stay as long as we’d like to have. The art was beautiful. The rooms were HUGE and impeccably clean. Laura was a treasure! Down to earth and we felt like we became family the second we walked in the front door. If you have come across this review, trying to decide if this is a good place to stay, I promise you it is the best! Laura, we WILL be back! Joe Sine and Katrina French.
